New Years Day and I am hard at work building up my herb and salad garden. This tower has five layers (leaf) planted and one more to go. As you can see, it is sitting in a hot water heater drip tray that I ordered from a plumbing supply company. This was much cheaper than buying proper planter drip trays. I will eventually purchase a spinner, but for now, this will do. I also stuck a small grow light on top, which should suffice until I figure out proper lighting.
The two tiers on the bottom are sprouting red clover already. I just planted it two days ago.
Above the red clover is a layer of herbs: basil, Thai basil, purple basil, lemon balm, oregano and cilantro. The herbs grew up in an Aerogarden and were transplanted here so they can thrive, as it was getting kind of crowded in the Aerogarden. Above the herbs are two tiers of salad greens: alfalfa, radish, broccoli, and clover. This is a sprouting mix. I will be growing as microgreens.
